Friday’s walk has to be one of the best I have done! Like I said in my Instagram post there was big black sand dunes, bush, lake views, green hills and even an amazing little waterfall!
The Lake Wainamu Loop Track is located at Bethell’s Beach and is 4km long. It takes an estimated 1.5hours to complete (my mum and I took four hours haha – we stopped for lunch, and many times to take photos!) The track starts at the carpark, just before the main beach. From here, the track follows a stream and is fairly well signposted. When you see the sand dunes you can either walk to the top of them, or continue to follow the stream. I would reccomend walking to the top of the sand dunes, as there is such an incredible view! You can continue to walk across the sand dunes until you see the lake. On the right hand side, slightly around the corner (past some bush) you will seen signage for the loop track entrance. This part is around 45minutes and you will see a waterfall! The track will lead you back to the low part of the stream and you can walk back towards the car park. It was so nice to put our feet in the stream after a long walk in the sun!
This track is so different to any I have done before and I can’t recommend doing it enough! SO BEAUTIFUL!
