Local Beauty – Eaves Bush & Wenderholm
I am sure everyone who reads this blog now knows that I love going on walks/hikes! It is seriously the best being out in nature and getting exercise. I have often driven for a hour+ to do some hikes, but these two walks were literally within minutes from our house which was a big plus!
Eaves Bush Reserve
This gem is near the end of Orewa Beach on Old North Road. It is truly is a magical little (well rather large) bush! I love the fact that on part of the track the ocean can be seen!! There are several routes – you can just do part of a track or do the full loop track. There is also a sign that leads to a ‘lookout’, but I discovered that it’s completely overgrown and all that you will see are more trees. Haha!
Wenderholm Regional Park
Wenderholm Regional Park Wenderholm offers five walking tracks, ranging from 20 minutes to 2.5 hours! I had done the 20 minute look-out walk a few times, but this time I did the Perimeter Track which was 2.5 hours. This track starts at the entrance of Wenderholm, and as the name suggests, follows the perimeter of the park. It goes through beautiful forest, to Kokoru Bay on the Waiwera Estuary, before going uphill and around to the lookout which is so PRETTY, regardless of the weather!
